アメリカンヴィンテージのアヴィエータータイプをリデザインした、ティアドロップ型の「クリップオン・サングラス」

技術的難易度が高い故に商品化が敬遠されて来たメタル枠の変形クリップオンを、世界最高峰の技術を誇る鯖江の眼鏡職人の協力を得て、リデザインに挑んだ渾身のプロダクトだ。
リム＆レンズは当時の欧米向けのアメリカンリム型を忠実に再現した事で、絶妙なヴィンテージの雰囲気を醸し出す。ブリッジ、クリングス、ヨロイ、他各パーツはアメリカンリムを「日本人の顔立ちに似合う」様にデザインし設計され、美しいフォルムに仕上がっている。


This product is a meticulously crafted redesign of the American vintage aviator-style, featuring teardrop-shaped clip-on sunglasses.

Overcoming the technical challenges associated with metal frames, traditionally discouraged for production, this transformed clip-on has been redesigned with the collaboration of skilled eyewear artisans from Sabae, known for their world-class expertise.
The rim and lenses faithfully replicate the vintage American rim style from that era, exuding an exquisite vintage ambiance. The bridge, hinges, and other components are designed and engineered to complement the “Japanese facial features,” resulting in a beautifully crafted form.

βチタンを採用した軽量ボディとラバーコーティングを施したモダンで滑りを軽減し、絶妙な湾曲を描いたテンプルは圧迫による顔へのテンプル痕に配慮し設計され、ストレスフリーの着用感を実現している。
左レンズにはインパクトのある「DOWNTOWN GANG」の刻印、右レンズにはブランドの証である「DG」の刻印が刻まれる。

The lightweight body, crafted with β-titanium, and the modern rubber coating reduce sliding, while the gracefully curved temples, designed with consideration for temple marks caused by pressure, ensure a stress-free wearing experience.
The left lens features the impactful engraving “DOWNTOWN GANG,” while the brand’s signature “DG” is etched on the right lens.

1960年代のオリンピアンタイプを彷彿させる昭和レトロのサングラスをリデザインした、リムレスの「キャッツアイ・サングラス」

シャープでカーブが強いレンズを「日本人の顔立ちに似合わせる」のは物理的に困難な上に、フレームにネジ留めのリムレスはレンズへのヒビ割れリスクも有り非常に困難を極めたが、細部まで緻密に設計しサンプリングを繰り返す事でリデザインに成功した力作だ。
「レンズが頬骨に当たる」「鼻パッドのフィット感が悪い」という弱点は、独自開発されたクリングスで見事に回避している。ストレートテンプルの「ズレ落ちる」「左右テンプルの締付けがキツく耳の付け根痛い」「収納時にモダン先がレンズに当たりキズ付く」や、リムレスの「レンズ留めネジ穴からのヒビ割れ」等の弱点も、全て解消。


This rimless “Cat’s Eye Sunglasses” is a redesigned version reminiscent of the Showa retro sunglasses from the 1960s Olympic type. Achieving a design that complements the facial features of Japanese people with sharp, strongly curved lenses posed a physical challenge.

The rimless frame, secured with screws, presented a risk of lens cracking, making the redesign extremely challenging. However, meticulous planning and repeated sampling led to the successful redesign.Addressing weaknesses such as “lens contact with cheekbones” and “poor fit of the nose pads” were skillfully overcome using the independently developed cling pads. Issues like “slipping of straight temples,” “tightening discomfort of left and right temples causing ear base pain,” and “modern tips scratching the lens during storage” were also resolved, along with the rimless vulnerability to “cracking from lens-fastening screw holes.”

シャープなレンズと絶妙のアイブローラインがワイルドな男らしさを演出し、軽量なチタンボディと洗練されたフォルムが、優しく包み込む様な心地の良い着用感を実現している。
左右両レンズにはブランドの証である「DG」の刻印がさり気なく刻まれる。

ストレートテンプルはヘルメット装着時も着脱可能なモーターサイクル仕様だ。
バイカーは勿論、ロックやロカビリー好きにもキマる逸品だ。
